Santosh Anand Ji was born on 5 March 1940 in Sikandrabad district, Bulandshahr (30 km from Ghaziabad towards Bulandshahar), Uttar Pradesh. At that time, not only Uttar Pradesh but the whole of India was under the British rule and India was not independent. 


He received his early studies in Bulandshahr, after which he moved to Aligarh for higher education from where he completed his graduation. Due to his interest in music, he turned to Bollywood. He started his music career with the film Poorab Aur Paschim released in 1970. The film’s soundtrack was composed by well-known composer Kalyanji – Anandji.


In 1972, he wrote the song Ek Pyar Ka Nagma for the film Shor. The music of this song was composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal Ji. This song proved to be the most hit song of the era which was very popular.


This song got a lot of love from the audience, even today people keep humming this song. The voice of this song was given by famous singers Lata Mangeshkar Ji and Mukesh Ji. Santosh Ji performed his lyrics for another film Roti, Kapda Aur Makan, which came out in 1974. The music for this song was composed by Laxmikant – Pyarelal.


The film also featured the song “Aur Nahin Bas Aur Nahin” by singer Mahendra Kapoor, and the duet “Main Na Bhoolunga” by Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar. He received his first Filmfare Award for his career for the song Main Na Bhoolunga.


After this, songs were also written for the film Kranti which came in the year 1981, all the songs of the film proved to be super hit and the film became the highest-grossing film of that year. He wrote the lyrics for Tera Sath Hai and Megha Re Megha for the film Pyasa Sawan released the same year.


Then he wrote many songs in the film Prem Rog, released in 1982, whose music was composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. This song was sung by Lata Mangeshkar Ji and Suresh Wadkar Ji. Santosh Anand Ji was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist for the second and last time for this Prem Rog song.

Santosh Anand Ji is a great lyricist and famous poet of the Indian Bollywood industry, who is now quite old. He has made a distinct identity in the Indian film industry with his unmatched songs. Even at this stage of age, he has shown a passion to work.


Santosh Ji had fallen victim to an accident in his youth, due to which he lost one of his legs and became physically disabled. After being handicapped by a leg, he did not lose his spirits and wrote many memorable songs in his life that people still remember. He is a distinguished and gentle artist who won the Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist 2 times in his life.


Santosh Anand Ji wrote 109 songs in a total of 26 Bollywood films. The songs penned by them have been lent by eminent playback singers like famous singer Lata Mangeshkar, Mahendra Kapoor, Mohammad Aziz, Kumar Sanu, and Kavita Krishnamurthy.


He has written songs in the films for many actors such as Bollywood veteran actor Raj Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, and Manoj Kumar. Talking about Santosh Ji’s personal life, a son was born after 10 years of his marriage. He named it Sankalp Anand. Sankalp married Nandini Anand without telling his father.


Sankalp was a lecturer in Criminology and Forensic Science in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, teaching IAS officer. But in 2014, in an unfortunate way, he went to a railway station in Mathura and jumped in front of a train, and died with his wife.


Sankalp had left a 10-page suicide note, in which he had written several things about several top officials and DIGs and revealed the ongoing corruption in the Home Ministry. After his suicide, father Santosh Anand broke a mountain of grief and had to face many troubles.

 

In the year 2021 people have forgotten him and he has become physically helpless, today he has no work left. Recently Santosh Anand Ji was invited to Indian Idol 2021, where he narrated his sorrows and painful stories which caused tears in everyone’s eyes.


Listening to their painful tales, the three judges of Indian Idol also had tears in their eyes and Neha Kakkar moved her hand to help them and donated Rs 5 lakh to Santosh Ji. In this show, Santosh Ji looked so disappointed in his life that even at this stage of his age, he has been seeking work in the industry.


Vishal Dadlani has also promised to give him work, seeing the passion of working in this stage of age and hearing his painful heavy stories. In the end, we hope that Santosh Anand Ji’s life will be fulfilled well in the coming times and God gives him everything he wishes for.

Santosh Anand‘s marital status is married and his wife’s name is Raj Dulari. He has one son whose name is Sankalp Anand who was a Lecturer at the Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science but, In the year 2014, Sankalp Committed Suicide With His Wife Nandini Anand.


Santosh Anand has one daughter name Shelly Sharma who has been married to Chandra Mauli Sharma. Shelly Sharma’s husband Chandra Mauli Sharma is a reputed journalist and works in a news channel.
