Sarbananda Sonowal
Sarbananda Sonowal is the 14th chief minister of Assam. Sonowal is a BJP member and represents Majuli constituency in Assam's state legislative assembly. He did his Bachelor from Dibrugarh University and went on to do his LLB from Gauhati University. He is popularly known as a firebrand and dynamic youth politician, also regarded as a Jatiya Nayak of Assam, a title given by the AASU, the oldest student body of the state.

Interesting Facts During his college days he won Mr Dibrugarh Strongman title. Passionate about high speed cars and bikes. He is the first BJP leader but the second Tribal to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Assam. He is fond of fishing. Sarbananda's favourite colour is white. He is so obsessed with the colour that he painted all the walls in his house white.
Political Timeline
2021 Sarbanand Sonowal was called in to Delhi and appointed as the Cabinet Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterway and additionally given the charge of Ayush Ministry as well. 2021 He won Assam Legislative Election from Majuli constituency and also helped BJP to attain majority mark under his leadership. 2016 On May, 24, 2016, Sarbanand Sonowal was sworn in as the chief minister of Assam as the BJP led National Democratic Alliance won solid majority in the state. 2016 He became Chief Minister of Assam from Bharatiya Janata Party on 19 May 2016. He was elected from Majuli Constituency in Assam Legislative Assembly. 2014 He was appointed as Union Minister of State-Independent Charge, Republic of India. Later in 2016 he resigned from Loksabha.
